We can't really compare us with the yanks; I mean afterall, the recent shooting at a US Army Base Texas was home to 40,000 troops. Compare budgets would be like comparing apples and oranges.

Having said that I wouldn't mind a quarter of their 2010 budget for our Armed Forces.

A little off topic, however, to quantify how good we are at giving our money away...We give 200 mil a year to India to help their people eat etc. India spend 600 mil a year on their space programme!!!!!

Nice to see that this "overseas development" is ringed for no change. I'm so happy we taxpayers have provided the starving Indians with a nuclear submarine. The rumour about Cottesmore going to house illegal immigrants is amother joke, they will probably cost more to "maintain" than the x sqns of Harriers currently there.
