I have heard a nasty rumour that in a brief at our beloved spiritual home yesterday, on how TG9 should be integrating etc, it was slipped in about the creation of an Air Traffic Control Association. Entry criteria being that you needed to be an endorsed controller and have a controllers little blue book.

At that point, apparently there was much murmuring and rumblings from the FOMs present. Questions were asked why only controllers were allowed to join, considering that the brief was about how we should be integrating more and that FOMs are actually part of TG9.

Embarrassed looks from the Controlling fraternity execs I hear.

FOMs 1 - Controllers 0, I reckon.

I have also heard about how the FOMs now want the creation of FOMA. The Flight Ops Managers Association, entry criteria being you need to have been a Cpl and you own a book of any colour you want..

At a time when the controlling world is basically sh1tting itself because it is fearing civilianisation, they should be doing more to integrate, rather than forcing wedges between us.

In the impending Defence Review and much muted TG9/TG12 integration, I know who will be left with a chair when the music stops and it wont be the Air Traffic Controllers.

TTF Now.

I am bemused by the notion that FOMs can actually read, let alone own books!

The ACTA will no doubt be instigated by the straight-striped fraternity. The FCs have one too, I cannot be a member even though I have exactly the same qualifications and job as a JO ABM (FC). But seeing as most of them are cnuts I'm not that bothered!

Unfortunately for the Mil ATC types, AOBM is now a FC type and knowing him well I think I can guess where his axe might fall.

Interesting days ahead I fear...

Not what I heard today...... :pDT_Xtremez_42:

But, as for us partisan FOMs.... I think we got the message across. :raf:

What is that supposed to be? We already have GATCO if you wish to join an Air Traffic club of some kind.

As to your other points, considering the RAF is binning AVOs I'm fairly sure they won't be civilianising the controlling branch for a good while yet.
Quite apart from anything else, the costs would increase exponentially.
That said, if they do it, I'm all for a re-tread and a spanky civvy suit TVM. :pDT_Xtremez_14:

No doubt being the Air Traffic Control Association, the acronym would in fact be ATCA

At least this FOM can read and write !!!!!

What a load of cock!:pDT_Xtremez_14:

The next thing you know there will be the 'The Runway Controllers Association' or the 'RVR Tower Fly Swatters Association' or how about the 'LE58 Battery Changers Association'? No wait better still how about 'I've humped the new LACW behind the Night Flying Shed Association'?:pDT_Xtremez_30:

Please keep the TG9 'them and us' bun fights going as it keeps me very amused in my old age. Alternatively, you could all join a worthwhile cause like the RAF Association and live in peace and harmony.

Somehow I doubt it!

Comments like that about female RAF personnel used to get you into trouble if I remember!

Just saying!

WTBP- Me thinks you have the wrong Chaka matey, I've never been caught making comments about Waafies in my time.

Oh yeah, back on topic, there should be a 'Flt Ops Officers Association' and and a 'CATCS Instructors Association' and a 'Friends of Ground Radio Association' and a 'BCU Association' and a 'I've had a quick Knee Trembler behind the TTF Bikeshed Association' and a .............?

Chaka,

The FOMs were taking the p1ss. Unfortunatley the controllers were not. Some controllers found our little dig funny, whereas some others did not. :pDT_Xtremez_42:

Perhaps not being caught saying things... sending things then?

And I have never been at the back of TTF for anything other than to listen to Donald Rumsfelds wise words! Besides, I have bad knees! And a twisted sock!

Never saw any knee tremblers out the back of TTF when I was having a smoke out there, must have been looking the wrong way.

You never ever listened to me !

PS Groucho Marx said "I would not want to belong to a club that would have someone like me as a member !"

Sums up my philosophy on life !
