Not sure if this will be helpfull or not but just thought i would answer some of the questions people may have about PRTC seeing as that i have just got back myself.
Arriving
I arrived by car at 9 o'clock, it says don't arrive until ten but this didn't seem to be a problem, just drive the the guard where you get a vehicle pass and then park outside Finlays gym. not too sure about arriving by coach.
Fitness:
On day two you will undertake the RAFFT consisting of a multi stage fitness test (bleep test) required level 9:10 for blokes, 7.2 (i think) for girls.
Press ups, 20 for blokes, 10 for girls.
Sit ups, 35 for blokes, 32 for girls.
Discipline
Although you cant be disciplined in full military style, when the corporal tells you to shut up, do it, straight away!! i was shocked by the amount of people that continued to talk every single time, or just chatted away whilst the corporal was talking, everything is very simple on PRTC, you are told where to be, when to be there, how to be dressed and what to bring with you. If you get it wrong expect a bollocking, you deserve it, when you are told to do something do it was quickly as possible as best as possible....simples.
Food
Food was good on both days, stuff like pasta, spuds, fish, veg, chips etc.
Attire
Arrive in shirt and tie as a minimum, after you arrive you will be put straight into coveralls and we were allowed to change into shorts and t shirts under these, on the second day after your fitness test you shower and get back into shirt and tie (not like a few of the guys that got shouted at for being in jeans, as i said, they told us the night before what to wear and when.
We were aloud to wear jeans and t shirts to the newcomers club.
Cleaning
They will keep you back if the block isnt clean, all you need to do is hoover everything, strip your bed, wash the bathroom floors, clean and dry the basin, clean the toilets and showers etc, again, simple if everyone helps.
Showering
You will be expected to shower 3 times during your stay, and for anyone nervous, the showers are private cubicles!!
Boots
You get given your boots and told how to look after them
Pay
The pay whilst on RTS is (averarage)
Before deductions £1084
Food £3.89 per day
Accommodation £0.58 per day
Council tax £0.08
Under 18's and married personnel don't pay council tax
General
Smoking... learn.to live without, we didn't get a fag break at all today and only got two yesterday
You have a social event in the newcomers club on the first night, as above, you can wear smart and clean jeans and t shirts
The general make up of the two days excluding the stuff mentioned above basically involves briefs of what to expect during your 9 weeks, stuff such as WASP (welfare and support personnel), medical etc etc
You will be marched almost everywhere, its a bit clumsy at first but you soon get into a reasonable step.
Departing
You will get away around two o'clock as long as the barrack blocks are clean.
Hope this may be of use to someone, if there are any questions, fire away as its all fresh at the moment, Cant wait for RTS now!!!
