You still don't get it?

You still don't get it?

I know of 9 that have come off the board so far. They are ALL....on TCW/90SU or ex TCW/90SU (riggers, 3 & 11). If the criteria is that you must be a current or veteran of TCW or 90SU, why aren't we all doing a tour on there to aid our career development. I volunteered for TCW last year but was told that no slots were available....maybe thats why I never hit the chosen few this year!

As Doctor said ...Who was on the board?

With so many talented individuals competing it is going to be hard but, you either have it totally impartial by someone who doesn't have perceptions- the preboard or you get the old boys network to sort it out?

Pre-board scores

Pre-board scores

If you're one of the lucky winners of this years lottery, congratulations to you. If you're not, maybe next year or in the next decade....Don't be fooled if you think that pre-boarding you as an A grade candidate will get you promoted anymore, even if you're pre-boarded in the top 5 the board can now push you slightly right to say 50+!!!!! However, if you started out as a B grade, you're probably one of the lucky winners. It seems a shame for the pre-boarding team to waste their time, the board doesnt believe their recommendations anymore, why do we have a pre-board to start with?

Very unfair system this year so it seems. I feel extremely upset to think that although I meet all criteria for promotion, pre-boarded extremely close to the top and ticking every single criteria box that is recommended for advancement, I dont even have a chance at promotion, its just not worth it anymore. However, I WONT PVR..........Will sit in my current rank for another 8 years if I have to!

They've stopped giving out pre-board scores now....just your final place following the board. Are we still entitled to our pre-board scores under FOI???
Thats strange cos I was told my pre-board score and position over the phone.

Seems the board changed its mind.

On the fist version, someone was in the low 'teens, then from behind a cloud arrived a group of 90SU individuals.......this person moved on the second version to the low 30's :0

Wasn't the president of the board OC 90SU

Seems the board gave out two outcomes. On one, someone was in the low 'teens then from behind a cloud arrived a load of 90SU people.......this individual is now in the low 30's :0

Wasn't the president of the board OC 90SU

Not sure whether it was OC90, or OC TCW. If it was the latter it would explain a lot of the bias.

I was told that i made Cat A number 32 on the pre-board but failed to make it to the promotion list, which had 56 names on it. Being a bit cynical and a bit p*ss'd off weighed up my options and did the decent thing - PVR'd.
Done my 22, why stay in? I enjoyed my job and respect the people i work with but no longer like the direction that the RAF is going. I also hate the 'I'm listening' attitude that they preach whilst shutting the door in your face and slaming the phone down!
As we're all 'techies' (even though some are colour blind to the difference between red/green/blue - important when wiring a plug!) i can see someone getting seriously hurt but i don't have enough time or people to supervise these people 24hrs a day. I don't want to be in anyway responsible for their deaths!
Then again with us only being responsible for computers (DII? - isn't that civilian?) not really a problem as they come with fitted plugs.

Does anyone know if they have closed the book on this one yet? I was just wondering if my high placing was going to be a long shot!

Infiltrator, is this first hand knowledge and did you accept the offer ?(congrats if you did)

Yes to both, and thank you! I'm informed by a reliable source that they have gone through 37 now and are looking to see if they will do 38 before the next board if that helps. PM me if you want more gen.

I wouldn't bother waiting, I've just completed resettlement training after 30 yrs service and should have gone some time ago really, I waited ....and waited....and waited. I finally got promoted did my cursory 2 years then jumped for reasons not too dissimilar from your comments. Great career, great way of life, great comradeship and equally great memories but then there's JPA and the promotion debacle to bring one back to grim reality. I think we become too institutionalised and maybe the Army have the right idea before we become too bitter and moreover too old to seek gainful employment.
