Hello all,

I know this subject has been discussed but i just thought i'd say what has been happening with my application to see if there is anyone else in the same boat?

I'm going in as a supplier and having been told (at the time of applying) it was a pinch-point trade, the actual application process was done and dusted within a month (from declaring interest through to passing pjft).

I phoned the newcastle afco about 2-3 weeks after passing the pjft to see what was happening. It was then that I was told recruitment was closed for the year and wouldn't be opeining up until april 2010. I was a bit perplexed by this but reading the posts on here helped to reassure me that i wasn't the only one (cheers e-goaters, it was certainly helpful).

Is it normal that i have never recieved a letter confirming I had passed all of the tests/exams and clarifation that recruitment had been halted until april next year? Also with regards to possible start dates, am i likely to get a) start dates FOR april i.e. recieve notification in Jan/Feb. or b) recieve notification on/after april meaning start dates for May/June/July?

sorry if this sounds like another broken record to some of you but any responses will be greatfully appriciated.

I cannot help with your question but I would say that it is pretty poor of the AFCO to not let you know what is happening. Their job is to communicate with their candidates to try to maintain their interest. What would happen if the recruiting 'tap' was opened again in April? Would they start the process again, or simply ring those who are some way through the recruiting mill?

My advice is to ring them up and ask your questions directly to them. Only they can answer.

You are one of the unlucky candidates who when applying the trade was open but within the time of Test,Medical and PJFT the trade was filled. You will find you are on a deferred MP10/11 list. This means, once the ManPlan for 2010/2011 (MP10/11) is released, (our year runs April to April, hence why the AFCO are saying we may you will be allocated a slot on PTRC, then the AFCO will book you your 308/Final Interview.

I can only think that because you have contacted the AFCO after your PJFT, they have made a journal entry in saying they have informed you over the phone. There is no official letter for this, therefore a phone call is put down as a journal entry.

The good thing is, you HAVE got a job, but you just have to wait until the MP10/11 is released... There are loads of unlucky candidates out there who would do anything to be in you shoes... Actually Supplier is now CLOSED, not unavailable, that means the AFCO can only take a AFCO Form 1 (Interest form) only now, you cannot sit the AST...

Good luck for the future, and hope you get your date soon :pDT_Xtremez_30:

You are in the same boat as me passed everything on the 1st July and just missed out. Also going in as supplier.

I was told I was on a reserve list but if I dont get that it would be from April onwards.
