First of all, what type of accommodation are you moving to? If you are moving quarter to quarter then you get 5 days relocation leave, if you are moving from quarter/prvate residence to block/mess then you only get one days relocation lve. There is also a scheme called UKPASH where you can hire a vehicle and move your belongings up to a capped rate. Best best, speak to your HR Flt and ask for their guidance.

I sugest you re-read the JSP. I am assuming rightly or wrongly that, from your username that you are HR. Which leads me to state that it is no bloody wonder the rest of us dont know what we are entitled to if HR quote the JSP incorrectly.

The actual rules are:

If you are relocating to another Unit and your domestic accomodation changes then you are entitled to 5 days. Regardless of whether it is a qtr, the block or your own gaf.

If you are changing Unit, but staying in the same domestic accomodation, be that a qtr, block or have decided to commute from your own gaf then it is only one day.

The one day rule also applies to moves to a different Unit within the same Station.

Also wanted to add:

With regards to who takes the hit. I guess it will be swings and roundabouts, some will want it before they are marched out some will want it after they march in their new place and some will want a bit either side. Relocation leave is also able to be deferred, for a period of up to (usually) no more than 6 months. So I guess sometimes you will have someone posted in who has already taken it and sometimes you will lose people who want it before they go. Bit of give and take I guess.

Relocation leave

Dear Mr Sniffer you are sniffing up the wrong tree!

You are correct, I am HR!

These regulations are governed by what marital cat you are, if you are single and move from block to block you will receive 5 days as single personnel cannot be discriminated against as a married personnel who changes their domestic accommodation are entitled to 5 days! A married SNCO who moves from the mess to his own private residence which has been maintained whilst at his old unit will only get 1 day's relocation leave. The JSP was supposed to be amended on 1 Sep 09 as the phrase 'domestic accommodation' is Army terminology and was going to be re-worded to provide more specific advice to entitlement dependant on individual circumstances. I know this because I have e-mails from casework as I have been having this seem argument with them over differing interpretations of Domestic Accommodation! I was attempting to provide a general overview of the entitlements hence the advice to contact unit HR for the full sp!

Hope this clarifies the situation?

It wasn't. Therefore until Chf Clks have clarification from SP Pol or the JSP is amended any move that involves a domestic move will attract 5 days re-location leave.

That sounds a bit fcuked up to me. If it takes to 5 days to move then it takes 5 days to move. (Took me one but rulez is rulez)

Deferring the relocation leave should, surely, defer the relocation.

The Masked Geek See the situation I mentioned on page 1. A colleague of mine was posted but DHE could not provide her with a march in at a time to co-incide. So through no fault of her own she had to move into the block until they had a qtr available for her. She took her 5 days a few weeks after she arrived in post and spent them packing up at Pompy and unpacking up here.

As for what "should" have been changed in the JSP...... Will that really stand up? To me if it thats what the policy says, then thats what the policy is. Especially in this situation where a lot of it already seems to be open to interpretation.

Fair point.

I had 3 weeks gardening leave when DHE @ a secret Lincs flying base fcuked up my Quarter allocation. :pDT_Xtremez_14:

They mis-read the dates and then refused to budge. Then, to top it off, the main site quarter we were "guaranteed" was given to a friend of the rep and we were bumped off to Castlefields. :pDT_Xtremez_09:
