I'm not a gunner but I say get yourself to A&E and get some treatment. Whatever happens, be honest with the AFCO - do not try and blag it because if youre found out in training you'll be out on your ear.

Do you have dates?

Fingers don't take that long to heal and by the time all the processes are gone through your finger will be well healed (assuming you have a normal break which repairs normally)

Don't panic because you will have a broken finger on your med records, lots of people join up with plenty bigger bone breaks in their past.

Relax, once it heals you should be able to crack on as normal.

Seen as you want to be a gunner as long as it's not your trigger finger.:pDT_Xtremez_42:

I can't see it being a major block I'm sure the AFCO will sort you out, but make sure they check their stuff. So good luck

I remember my medical when I joined up and I don't recall any checks for broken fingers. So you can always blag it if it comes to it. Good luck and enjoy your time in.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but the book does say that a broken bone does indeed bar your entry for a year. However this is aimed at big bones - leg, arm etc. I am afraid that this is now a medical officer's call. Suggest you talk to the AFCO about it.

Minor bones

Minor bones

For a minor break like a finger I think it is a 6 month wait.
