Just been away to North Cornwall to the John Fowler Holiday park at Widemouth Bay nr Bude.

To be honest it was not the poshest caravan park, but good location, tacky entertainmet for the kids, indoor pool and not too pricey.

There was was a good mix of people and we had a real good time.

Now on the last night (Friday) they had the kids disco dancing competition and the mini folds insisted on entering with about 30 others

The youngest gets through to the final six with a mixture of good air guitar, jumping around, some slick dance moves, a bit of break dancing and finishes of with some knee sliding, good lad!!

My daughter loves dancing and arty stuff also gets through to the final so two out of the six is not bad odds. We both give them the 'well done at getting through but dont get upset if you dont win' speech and away they go.

Now dont get me wrong I love my daughter with all my heart but when it comes to dancing the politest phrase I have for her is 'wooden' she tends to free form ( do dance steps completely un related to the song she is listening to) and is generally unrhythmic to say the least so our hopes were on the boy.

The final was on the stage with each child having 1 minute to shine. The first four were ok with one girl obviously having had some dance training.

The lad gets on stage, the spot light falls and instead of his hectic high energy good old fashioned boy dancing he gets stage fright and jumps up and down on the stage for one minute solid. Chances of fame fading away.

Last up was little Miss Fold as suspected she hardly moves her feet apart from a moon walk attempt, there was a bit of hand jiving, some Saturday night fever arm waving and some shoulder shaking and that was about it.

Then feck me the judges results come in and she has won, me and Mrs Fold are speechless, but not only has she won but she has also won us a 4 day FREE hoilday in Novemeber when she appears in the Grand Final.

Now my talented, dance expert of a daughter will be getting lessons from an dancefloor expert, me. There is no way she can lose.:pDT_Xtremez_42:

Isn't it strange how somewhat talented kids can come from ugly retard parents.

Oddly enough I never regarded my parents as ugly retards, my kids maybe but not my parents.

I remember entering dancing comps when i was younger at holiday camps like pontins. I won once to! My parents became quite friendly with the head blue coat one year and he told them that they arent looking for the best and can tell when someone has had some lessons. They are looking for the most effort. So miss P might not of had the best moves but she tried and had the balls to get up there. Good luck to here in the final! :pDT_Xtremez_14:

Similar thing when we went to a Haven camp in Yarmouth back when Miss Stax was about 11. Lastminutedotcom, she decides she wants to enter the fancy dress comp. All I can do is stick a sheet around her as a toga, twist some branches into a "crown" thing and send her as a Roman. Get to the club and its full of kids in proper, shop bought, costumes. There are cowboys, ballerinas, mermaids, spacemen and, worst of all twins dressed as Mickey and Minnie! Expecting dissapointment, we were pleased when she came second! She got a little trophy and we got vouchers for a free meal in the site restaraunt, result.

Micket and Minnie came first, obviously!
