I am going to bill E-Goat for some coffee ingested keyboards!

I wonder how Ferrari's test/3rd driver feels about this?

:pDT_Xtremez_14:
Ferrari have 2 test drivers on the books, Luca Badoer and Marc Gene.
I would imagine they are seething inside!

Well, I got that well and truly wrong. I honestly didn't think Schuey would come back. Very brave of him though. He will either be acclaimed as the best thing since sliced bread or he'll make a complete arse of himself!

Still, it's certainly raised the profile of F1.

Schuey is the reason why I used to hate Ferrari. I only switched to red because Kimi went there. Now Schuey is coming back. Damnit!:pDT_Xtremez_42:

Massa has been quoted as jokingly saying that he hasnt agreed to let Schuey drive his car! :pDT_Xtremez_30:

The teams are allowed a certain amount of straight line testing this season. I think it was limited to km's, not sure how many though.
ILLKC has got it spot on though. All they have to do is put Schuey in one of the hybrid cars (mixture of 2008 and 2009 test season) and let him thrash around Fiorano.
The other teams don't do that because they need more direct data from testing on the latest incarnation of their car. Schuey just needs a bit of track time. Don't forget, a driver needs strong neck muscles and these are built up in training as well as during race weekends. Schuey has 3 weeks or so of training but he is missing half a seasons training and races.

Still, it'll make for an interesting second half!

I can't fcuking wait. A wet Spa with Lewis and Schuey on it is going to be fcuking awesome! The world championship leaders will be bit players. Oh shock!! Schuey has been hammering around Ferrari's Fiorano Test Track in an F2007.. Masher, thanks for the endorsment!

I'm not shocked that FOTA have allowed him a test day for the current car. Ferrari just said "Force Majure, we have an injuried driver, Toro Rosso just sacked theirs!"

Oh,.. Masher.. What has Kimi and Martin Brundle got in common?:pDT_Xtremez_30:

PS I can add Nelson Piquet Snr as well!

There is quite a bit of a difference between Sacking a Driver and the freak accident that took Massa out.

If it were down to me and common sense I would say let Schuey do 1 days testing in the new car but all other Training has to be done in last years car.

One thing is for sure I really am looking forward to seeing Lewis in a car that works with Schuey fighting for position. It will take me right back to the mid 90's races with Hill

Yesterday, in the F2007 car using GP2 slicks, schumi beat Massa's time in the F2009 car by 2 tenths.................... He's quick out of the box.

Ferrari has asked rival teams for permission to have Michael Schumacher test this year's car during the testing ban ahead of the European Grand Prix.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/77456

...........and apparently all the FOTA teams have agreed.

Actually NOT, Williams have correctly noted that Ferrari have two drivers other than Schumacher who have driven this year's car in pre-season testing and have said NO to Schumacher testing this years Ferrari.

Actually............yes! Willams are not a member of FOTA. They got chucked out. :pDT_Xtremez_14:
Red Bull teams also objected.

Originally, it was announced that all of the FOTA teams had said yes to letting Schumi test the F2009 car. Williams, who are not a member of FOTA said no to it. Ferrari needed all the teams to agree before the FIA would make the final decision.
On the back of the Williams decision, Red Bull, and Torro Rosso have also now said no as apparently they asked to test Jaime Alguersuari before his Hungary debut, but they were refused.
They reckon that if a rookie can do it, so can the seven times world champion.

Fair decision I reckon. :pDT_Xtremez_14:

I wonder if Torro Rosso will have any engine problems coming to them? :pDT_Xtremez_42: :pDT_Xtremez_31:

I think what some people are failing to see is that TR sacked their driver and as such have no grounds to use the same argument regarding Schummi, that said I hope he takes Hamilton out ( fairly ofcourse )
