Some computer repair shops are illegally accessing personal data on customers' hard drives - and even trying to hack their bank accounts, a Sky News investigation has found.
In one case, passwords, log-in details and holiday photographs were all copied onto a portable memory stick by a technician.

In other shops, customers were charged for non-existent work and simple faults were misdiagnosed.

..................Just be careful what you leave on your 'puter.

Unfortunately it is the state of our society. After all, where can you find an "Honest" Lawyer or a builder that will not con you?? I personally got stung to the tune of over £2000 by someone who promised me a good deal....and he was going to marry into the family...mmmmm.
What is the world coming to I ask myself?

PC world have been looking into your computers when they are taken in for years now, They look for pirate software, specifically Microsoft and report you to the relevant peeps. That information was given to me by a PC world technician.

This is why it helps to know at least one techno-wizz rather than having to go to a company. :pDT_Xtremez_14:

Besides, what kind of numpty leaves important passwords on their PC, let alone laptop? Is it no surprise then that we have had politicians and officials losing data like they have? :pDT_Xtremez_42:

If you use vista and firefox it is very easy to view all user names and passwords if you dont clear your cookies and history etc etc

Try it.
Tools>Options>Security>Saved passwords>Show passwords

I would rather chuck my pc in the bin than give it to PC world the robbing ****ers, well any computer repair place for that matter, its worth just spending 10 min on google to try and fix the fault.
