Is this at your 7.5 or 8 year point? I wish someone would just produce a document to clarify it all, it would make it so much easier!

To be honest mate, Im just waiting to see what I get next payday or the one after. I went into PSF a few months ago to apply for my seven and a half year bonus so I presume it will be at this point. Im just not exactly sure whether it will be in the next pay packet or the one after.

Although, I have received good advice from people on here, and also had it confirmed to me by a clerk at Halton, Im still a little bit sceptical. Mainly because the admin people here are completely unaware of this and seem quite unwilling to help.

It still seems a bit too good to be true, even though Ive read it in black and white.

Anyway, Ill keep you posted of any developments.

im no expert, but apparantly the army have always had their bonus points at the 8 year point and the RAF at the 7.5 year point.

this is what ive been told and it makes sense.

the guys that qualify for the full 15k bonus at the 8 year point (RAF) do not have to commit to further service. They are paid for time done, not time to be done, where as the guys that have been in between 4 and 8 years get a bonus which has a 'time to serve' aspect of 18 months or the cash has to be paid back, therefore, you have to receive the bonus of 5k (post april 1st) at the 7.5 year point as you are still tied to the 18 month return of service crap.

hope that clears it up a bit, thats how my adminer explained it.

Hi guys,

I too am due my 7.5 year bonus soon and had a chat with the guys at PSF. They don't seem to know much about the 5K at the 8 year point and couldn't find any DIN's which gave clear advice on it?

I too don't want to sign for my £2500 one month only to find out that due to poor communication and admin (not at unit PSF level but higher up) that I've been done out of and extra £2500 for the sake of waiting 6 months.

Perhaps if this does happen we might have a course for redress?

We still have the right to redress but the terminology has changed slightly. A Service Complaint (SC) is submitted in order for a redress of grievance to be staffed.
We do not redress a person, so it is not 'who' but 'what'. An individual submits a complaint stating why he (or she!) thinks he has been hard done to and what he believes the outcome should be.
For example, a similar thread recently talked about how an individual believed he had been unfairly reported upon in his SJAR. He does not complain about the 1st RO, but complains that his SJAR is unfair. It is then up to the SC panel to decide what the redress should be.
In this case, it would be the change to procedure that the individual would complain about and the resolution would be to have the extra money paid.

I seriously doubt that a service complaint or a redress will be neccessary. When some clarification comes out officially, whoever was entitled to the extra money will get it! If you had already applied and recieved the money before you knew about this and before the official word comes out, then you cant be disadvantaged. Im sure the remainder will just be paid to you. I wouldnt worry, as soon as its in black and white that you are entitled, you will get it.

Also, Im sure the adminers are not 'unwilling to help'. Its just they know there has been no official clarification and until there is they cant do anything anyway. Clarification has been requested from SP Pol by many unit PSF's, and until we get it, what can they do?

Ive been advised to just claim for the bonus at the 7.5 year point, and if I dont receive the £5k, to raise a service request to the JPAC quoting the AFPRB report? Anyone else been given this advice?

Sammy, I too hope it won't be necessary but this is the military and we are talking about them parting with cash. My first bonus was nearly 4 months late due to an admin/JPAC cock up.

The problem is that no one really seems to know whats going on? PSF don't know, JPAC don't know so yet again we are left in the dark to "wait and see what we get paid" then try and fix it amd we all know how long that normally takes.

Hello mate,

further to my recent posts, after not being able to get any help from my unit PSF "you know more than me.....". I rang another unit who told me they had people in the same boat and had confirmed we were due the extra bonus.

To further strengthen my case before I go back to PSF on Monday I created an SR on JPA, on the iSupport page, basically exlpaining the situation and asking what they knew. The reply stated that I was eligible so long as I fell into the in between 4 and 8 years category, which I do. I then emailed back asking why the Bonus page on my JPA still only stated £2500. They have just replied saying they are unsure why it still says that so it has been passed to the 'Bonus Team'. I never knew they existed. Hopefully by the time I get back into this hellhole on Monday I will have a reply from the mysterious Bonus Team. My advice would to be to do the same, the more times this query pops up at JPAC the more likely it is they will seek out the right answers.

Ill keep you posted.

Hello mate, Im still waiting for a response to the SR which was sent to the 'Bonus Team'.

However, I did get word from my Chief Clerk, who has confirmed that those of us who are eligible will DEFINETLY get the extra bonus, they are just waiting for a new DIN to be issued to clarify how and when. She did also say, that the extra bonus would most likely be paid out at the eight year point. So now, Im expecting my 2500 next pay day, and then Ill keep my eye out for the release of the DIN. If there is nothing in the next couple of months after that, as obviously thats only six months later, Ill be getting back in touch with the CC. It all seems much more promising than it did at the beginning of last week.

It would be a bonus if people who had there 7 1/2 £2500 before 01 apr, but still in the 4-8 year bracket still qualify for the extra £'s. Guess we will have to wait for the DIN.......however long that will be!:)

OK so we now get an 8 year bonus. Has there been any news on the return of service required. Because as it stands, there is currently a 1.5 yr ROS. So those planning on leaving at their 9 year point will either have to pay it back or extend? Would my understanding be correct?

No, the new bonus system is designed to reward for service already done, not a bribe to keep you in an extra few years like the last bonus sytem. They wont make you extend past your 9 years if you dont wish to. :pDT_Xtremez_19:

In the same boat mate, mine was paid 20th March, mixed messages on this, some saying your bonus is paid end of, others saying you should be entitled to the extra coin at 8 year point.....no DIN as yet.

As a further update, I have received a messge from the JPA Bonus Team who tell me that they have only had instruction from the Army to pay this extra bonus. As yet, they have not heard anything from us or the Navy. So as far as they are concerned, were not entitled to anything extra. The plot thickens.
