PAX Insurance increase in Premiums

Because of the current dangerous conflicts PAX has seen an increase in the number of claims (surprise surprise::/:) now because of this they are upping the price of the premiums by about 30%!!!!!.

Now a lot of us military types have PAX just incase and will increase the coverage averytime they go OOA, because lets face it how many other insurance companies will touch us with a barge pole and the compensation offered by the MOD is woeful to say the least (unless it is a typing injury).

So PAX have us over the barrel so how nice of them to increase the charges, with less and less of us about more and more of us are going away more often surely our airships could have taken this hit on our behalf.

As if we dont have enough to worry about, if we get a pay rise this year none of us will see it because of this PAX increase and the no doubt above inflation rise in the cost of accomodation etc etc. When morale and retention are low they really know how to improve things.

So that means if you buy 15 units of cover your monthly charge will be £73.13 or £877.50 a year!!! It is absolutely shocking that we should have to pay out for insurance like this. As said in many threads before it is about time our government realised that we need looking after better.

Fewer, not less.

I can't blame the folk behind PAX for this. They are a business.

I'd like to see a scheme where there is a contribution in the form of an entitlement to meet the need for insurance, but doubtless those in power would cite the X-factor as all the compensation we need for the extra cost.

I got mine through my solicitor and was given a few boxes to tick to say I would not be in the Middle East again for 2 years after my tour , I could not promise that so rather than have my lass worry the day before I went to gulf I signed a huge payment life insurance contract . The time I came I came back from the gulf the paperwork had not been fixed so i just signed a promise of 2 years without gulf. Im hoping that will get me through as the figures are shocking. The promise of getting life insurance does not cover ground trades only aircrew as I was told. I tried for 2 months while out in the gulf but to be told no chance , we not are covered by the JSP 385 or some thing like that, i checked and of you in the zone and you entitled to it but like all i was ****ed over and it became too late.

I have to lie to ensure im covered without being screwed with at least £40 extra a month. I can afford it but so many cant .

It is a pretty hefty increase, but with the tempo of operations and the increase in claims, it was bound to happen.

Maybe, when the Pay review board get together next, they may consider this a valid reason to increase the X factor?

Or maybe they won't.

You could look into SLI (Stirling Life Insurance). As you can probably tell from the name they only do life insurance but I was told by one of their guys who came to give a brief at my old unit that they were looking to introduce accident insurance too...
