Thanks :pDT_Xtremez_14:

Go for 140 litres. If its too big get some luggage straps round it to tighten it up. If you get one too small, there isn't much you can do other than buy another bag!

I take it this is to arrive at Halton and bring some civvies?
Take the bare minimum you can live with in the smallest bag possible. Unless you can't live without changing your trainers T's and stuff every single day.
Your RAF kit should come with a nice shiny new bag to hold it in.
I remember turning up with loads of crap like I was leaving home for good. Then having to cart most of it back again unused.

Look at your joining instructions and tailor bag size to fit.

Have things changed SO much? At Swinditz we never wore civvies for the whole time! and if I remember rightly - there wasn't much storage space to keep much baggage or personal kit!

What you will have to bear in mind is - once you've completed basic - if you've taken a huge bag of civvy kit with you - you'll have that - plus all the kit you'll be issued to carry when you've finished! Bare minimum!

I suggest the 140 L.

It'll come in handy when you get your tapes in 4 years, thanks TMG. Then you've enough space to stash all that higher payband pay rise. LMAO

well to be honest I have fcuk all civvy stuff anyway haha.. the only thing Im worried about is buying a decent bag for £90 then realising when I get all my RAF kit the bag will be too small but as for civvi stuff Il only be taking a few t shirts and a pair of jeans hehe.

Do you not get issued with a gucci kitbag these days? (big enough to carry about 1/2 of the kit you get issued...)

I Thought these fecking stupid questions about joining up and how many pairs of socks to take, what watch do I buy etc. were supposed to be in the "Recruit Forum" to stop clogging up the normal forum with this ****.......or does it not apply to certain "bone" questions ?

Crack on....................:pDT_Xtremez_09:

Oooh I just remembered another reason to go for the biggest bag possible. You do realise that it is a long standing tradition for recruits at Halton the night of their pass out to stuff one of your JNCO instructors in a big bag and drag them round the back of the drill hangar. Usually folk just use a potato sack but if you have got a big berghaus holdall that will be even better.

Remember this is a long standing tradition and you just wont be one of the cool kids if you don't do it! :pDT_Xtremez_42::0:pDT_Xtremez_30:
