I have developed an RSI (repetitive strain injury) in both of my wrists and before and stupid comments appear this is a serious problem and I need serious answers please.

One existed slightly before I started training and the other appeared during training. The right wrist is a lot worse than the left and it got to the point at the weekend where even holding a bottle of drink was causing pain, this is possibly partially due to playing volleyball recently.

I also have problems when doing press ups as I can't hold my wrists in that position for periods of time, especially with weight. Now I went to the doc and physio at Halton and was given pain killers and anti-inflamitories and the physio told me to rest, well I'm sure as you can imagine thats not really possible in this line of work.

My question is what do I do? Does anyone know of strengthening exercises I can do to build up my muscles in this area? I can't go through my career wearing supports, even if they do make it easier and less painful.

£400,000 is the going rate for a RAF bint typist with RSI. Looks like you're on to a winner, oooops! unfortuntely looks like you've blown it by admitting you had it befire you started training:pDT_Xtremez_42:

I had ops on both wrists for it , no problems now:pDT_Xtremez_30:

I don't want to sue and not a typist, I only had one before I joined and it was nothing like it is now and the other wrist is also suffering now.

I've got one of those Powerball things and it doesn't seem to have made a difference - also don't seem able to get it going properly :pDT_Xtremez_35:

That should read "civvy bint typist who worked for the RAF" just to put things into context.

The best thing you can do is rest it, the symptoms will hopefully subside. I can imagine that strengthening exercises while you are suffering symptoms would be a bad idea...but what do I know? Listen to the professionals.
