600 more troops for Afghanistan and 600 more for Kosovo when independence is declared. So much for easing the burden when we pulled 400 out of Bosnia last year. ::/:

Why do we continue to trust these people. Why should more of us deploy? Just more of us to go and die on a foreign field! Where are the rest of NATO?

I see the Govt would like private contractors & security firms to take over these duties.
Like hell they will! But it would be nice to send some of these cheap Polish builders and 500 Somali ex-warlords to do it.
It aint gonna happen so more squaddies go, putting more pressure on the Tristar fleet.
Knock-on effect being that we get booted off ac because the Army always have priority.

Everybody could see through the Government "spin" when we were reducing our manning in Iraq. Didn't take geniuses to figure out that we were going to concentrate and re-deply to the Afghanistan theatre.
Since that is the case there is no reason why other NATO members and countries such as Russia/China/India/Ukraine cannot help out in Kosovo.
As for Afghanistan itself. When will we ever learn? Hamed Karzai doesn't seem to want us there (another dictator in waiting??) and the Taliban will not go away. Add to that the complications of Warlords and Tribal leaders and you have a major mess. There is no way we can win. The most we will get is a draw and withdraw with dignity in a few years (earlier I hope). Afghanistan like Africa has to sort itself out. There is only so much the West can do for it!
