Ok, here we go!

It's that time of the year when the civilians are panic buying everything from pickled olives to bucket loadsa lard because Tesco is closed for one day. There is not a parking place anywhere this side of Venus/Marham.

I loathe this time of year.::(:

Commercialism is ruining the whole Christian principle and fecking Cola Cola Ads and Cliff Richard singing about mistletoe too really get on my t1ts.

Please don't get me wrong, I love Christmas Day, peace to all men and most of all spending time with the family, the way it should be. But, I also love New Year and the thought of things to come.

So fellow Goaters, wherever you are serving, is it Chrimbo or New Year that you love the best?:S

PS. I shall be spending Christmas p1ssed as fart in the corner of my living room thinking about absent friends, one of whom died on the 14 November 07.

Xmas for me, I got the choice of working Xmas or New Year, no real tough decision to make.

I love Christmas me. I think having 2 kids helps though.

As for New Years, not really interested, more than happy to work it.

Xmas for me, time to spend with the family. Not bothered about New Year - wouldn't fancy doing guard over it though!

Don't really have a preferance. I suppose xmas is better as it is at the start of the festive leave period, where as new year is a few days from going back to work. :pDT_Xtremez_30:

Definitely Christmas.
Don't give a monkeys about New Year, and haven't done for over a decade.
Love spending time with the whole family, kids, parents, grandparents, in-laws the lot.
Been lucky so far and only missed 1 Christmas at home, but I have worked plenty of New Years though, even one on guard once.
Had some of my best New Years at work too.

I have 2 step Grandkids aged 9 and 13 and 3 grandkids all aged 3 so it has to be Christmas.

This year I have a garage, two remote controlled helicopters and a remote controlled car to play with:pDT_Xtremez_30:

I sort of got out of the habit of celebrating New year spending the last 9 years either on QRA or duty load team to let the singlies who gave us married blokes with christmas at home the chance party.

Christmas is cr@p. Whomever started it should be nailed to a cross! It's just a commercial exercise.

There is no place in modern society for religion, science has proven that creationism is a myth.

As for New Year, yes it's great that we can all set new goals but they will be p155ed against the wall by 9th January.

As a single bloke I always ended up working Christmas and getting leathered at New year but since the arrival of the mini toadettes It deffo has to be Christmas. The look on their faces is priceless and I still manage a "couple" of beers.

The kids wake up at about 6.30 whether they have a late night or not so a New Years hangover is just too much these days.... (maybe I'm getting old)

Got to be christmas with the littl'uns. And this year I get to show mini mono how to use his radio controlled car ::D:

There's always something to remember on christmas day, including things like mini monoette opening a prezzie to shout exitedly "Daddy!!! I got a box!!!!"

I would like to add that it is christmas for me still, despite not having any grand children yet and no kids at home nowadays, mind you being likened to the Grinch by my two daughters and wife meant I could avoid most of the purgatory of christmas shopping. Never been one for New Years, like others have said if needed I would cover the New Year to let the Singlies have their fun.

Christmas. I at last get to play with my lads Thomas train set, without saying, "Just making sure it's all there love!".

It has to be Christmas for me. I will admit to getting as excited as the kids about it, probably because I am a big kid at heart who refuses to grow up!:pDT_Xtremez_19:

I love all the preparations too, decorating the tree and the house is a real family affair in our house! And seeing the kids faces on Christmas day when they see the presents under the tree for the first time.............well to me thats priceless!!

If I have to and given the choice, I'd always prefer to work New Year, as I much prefer Christmas. The start of a new year is pretty meaningless to me.

At the moment I'm at loggerheads with Mrs Tourettes. She wants to put the tree up and start decorating the house, as usual I'm not interested in / can't be arrsed with Crimbo.

Must be the the Jock in me but I'd much rather get pished at New Year and have a good time than deal with all the tat and crap that are attendant with Christmas.

P.S. I am the Grinch!

Has to be New Year for me. No Choice as Mrs Grumpy works in a care home and they require that all do a shift on christmas day.
