Sorry if this has been said already...but....

I am beginning to question why we have 2 pay levels at all these days?? I mean eventually trade by trade we will probably all go onto the high so why not just have done with the low pay band and stop beating around the bush.

Lets face it.. WE ALL WORK HARD FOR OUR MONEY.

Whilst I agree that there should be higher pay levels for those who have to study for their trade etc... at the end of the day when you all signed on the line you knew what you were sining u for. None of this AFCO mis informed me bull sh!t. If you joined up as a frikkin driver then you should expect to be paid accordingly. This whole flipping between the pay levels is RIDICULOUS and is becoming beyond a joke.

Rant over.

(And no I'm not a bitter Scribbly on the lower pay band...I work just as hard for my money as anyone else, and I knew what I was getting into when I joined the trade and the implications that came with it)

Fecking brilliant shafted by the RAF yet again. Same pay as a techie for driving a 4 tonner. I did my driving licences years ago at Leconfield so constantly get shafted to drive my own MT on Det because you clowns have never got any spare manpower. As for your talents any FU**wit can drive a truck, car or bus it's not hard, the only talents MT Drivers have is getting you to Brize 20 mins after the bar shuts after travelling for 12 hours at 40 mph down the M6. It's about time our Trade sponsors got there finger out their AR*ES and tried to get a slice of the cash for techies. I'm not being funny Cabbie but driving a land rover is hardly the same as signing a leagally binding document certifying that an aircraft is fit to fly. You crash your land rover you end up embarrased and in the WO's office possibly losing you F600 for a week, A plane crashes which i have signed as being servicable i end up in JAIL so how the Feck can you come in here shouting your mouth off about your pay rise you C0ck. If you were looking for a bite you got one good and proper but most of all i hope you get done for Drink Driving lose your licence and your job and get a job more fitting of your social standing ie NCP car park attenendant............................ Rant over

Wow, come on now, thats a bit hard on the MT guys. They are very good at their job, like the time that 16 of us returned from detachment and the MT flight sent 2 coaches to pick us up from Brize. Turns out the NCO i/c got his/her 1 and 6 the wrong way around.

Who did they blame............the UMO.
Who was the UMO..........me.
Who had all the docs clearly showing x16 self loading freight.........ME
TITTER that will be 16 not 61.

So no one in ANY other trade makes mistakes then? You would have been buggered if there were 61 pax and the controller sent a minibus...........i myself probably would have laughed at that cos its not like its that serious and lives are being put at risk!!! For goodness sake there are people dying out here and all people care about is petty bitching. ::p:

As an interesting aside from all this trade bashing and backbiting, is anyone aware of any ranks / trades dropped from the higher to lower pay band?

I don't mean stich up's when pay 2000 was forced on us, I mean changes since then.

OTRA, before a mod pitches in and gives you an "Irritant" tag I suggest you read the rules of this forum. You have made just a handful of posts and pi$$ed off half a dozen long-time goaters. That is not the way to win friends and influence people.

You are making such a big deal of being on the higher pay scale that it sounds as though you believe you don't deserve it. I can only wonder what will happen at the next trade review when MTDs are dropped back to the lower pay scale.

Like PSFbeatch I knew exactly what I was signing up for when I attested. Aircraft techies are annoyed (with the system, not those who have benefitted) that they are considered no more valuable than chefs and MTDs. If you don't understand that you need to get out more.

Enjoy the desert and stay safe in the control room. While you're there spare a thought for those lucky few who got their 3rd this year and will now be earning less than those who were not considered worthy for promotion.

Waddo, 90s on both counts with a few years in between. The "16 the wrong way round" incident sticks in my mind as the MT gaffer tried to drop me in it over the gaff. But hey, it happens, no one died.

Serious though, it’s about time the pay was sorted for many. It was not that long ago that a young MT driver that I knew was on additional payments from HMG because his family was so large and his pay packet so small. Now there are those who could say he should have used a condom, but that wouldn’t help him. I hear that movers are next for techie pay............Any truth in that one?

oh dear paid more money to crash in to a/c. now that would be an award!!!!! Now i think this might of been covered in another thread a while back, but i believe the spams are all paid the same rate according to rank no matter what job they do be left hand undercarrige technicain or an chef. but i think they get extra money on top of that basic pay which depends on what skills or q's they have done etc. does anyone know if this is correct. Perhaps this would be a better system up to a point of course. At least a jt who has been in 10 years say would be on more than one who has been in 7 say like what happens now.

Ha Ha, firstly, people joining up know what they are going to be doing but don't know the nuances of the job or Service life etc unless they have experience from family members or friends. Secondly, having been in the mob for 29 years, I know full well what my job is and all that it entails. Lastly, calling someone a fool for picking you up on your spelling is fair enough, you're a scribbly FFS!:pDT_Xtremez_28:
