Well it looks like the new French President is set for a mending of the US-French divide, Although Mr Sarkozy has described the war as a "mistake", he has also said France acted with "arrogance" before it began.:pDT_Xtremez_28:

So what do we have in the future…
French troops taking over from British in the South??::/:
Would you guys welcome the French forces??:pDT_Xtremez_25:

On a personal note, having worked closely with the French battalion in Kabul last year, they are great soldiers (although French) I hope they get a combat role and not just a ‘’money’’ role…:pDT_Xtremez_26:

What do you lot think…:0

What would make it more interesting, if Sarkozy sent the 2nd Parachute Regiment (Foreign Legion) out to Iraq!.

They were involved in Desert Storm back in 90-91 and have a history of counter-insurgency.

Bl00dy Hell, I can see them now. Laying absolute and total carnage to all the Sand Monkeys that stand in their way.

Now that would be fun.....

I saw a few Legion guys from 2REP over there in GW1. Had a mate who was with them. Good bunch of guys and feckin nails with it. I would rather have them alongside me than any of the other cheese eating surrender monkeys.:pDT_Xtremez_14:

They could be i/c white flags and cheese, just before they take the opportunity to exchange oil for French weapons.

That’s known as the De Gaulle factor, The second rule of French military operations.

France win's if somebody else does the fighting.

It would be an interesting development.
About time the other Eu countries stepped it up in Afghanistan at least.

Don`t agree with that.

The French paras did a good job,but they thought they were on holiday because they`d just come in from an active war zone.

The French Air Force sent nine air-air tankers that landed, taxied, parked, put the covers on and then didn`t emerge for the rest of the duration.

As far as i was aware their ground troops did a good job with the US Marines. Dont have the details at hand bu read a bit about it in General Franks book.

The French were with the 82 Airborne Div as part of XVIII Corps on the west flank of the push into Iraq in GW1. According to a book about GW1 that I've got, XVIII Corps were not impressed with the ponderous rate that the French advanced, which stopped the 82nd Airborne from moving at the rate that they wished to.

Well if they send the Foreign Legion at least you'll be able to communicate with them - They were out in Bosnia on one of the same times as me and most of the lads came from Birmingham! (..and no, I did'nt ask why?) Even the Sgt Chef (Colour Sgt) was an ex-pat and was great to trade with - especially their rations, they get wine with them.
