I think we touched on the subject of losing the Goat through IGS when Olovv tried to wind us all up, but how difficult would it be to start a new site, PM everyone and let them know that there's another site where we can go?

Love it or hate it, one of the wonders of the web is that you can't police it totally.

Ask Wobbly, he had a head full of hair when he started E-Goat, now he looks like a bowling ball!:pDT_Xtremez_42:

This pile of fetid chicken kidneys is the nasty thin end of a very big wedge. Lets face the facts here fellow goaters, the brass don't like the truth so they will shift heaven and hell to supress it. Not far to go before we paint red stars on our jets and have guardsmen goose-stepping down the mall. Everytime I see somthing like this I realise what a **** country I have devoted my adult life to serving. F***ing W*****s.....oops sorry folks....thats my tourettes f***ing kicking in.

Oh come on fellow goaters, let 'em bring it on, it's all fcuking drivel and sh1te. If they think that they can suppress basic freedom, let them try. The backfire will be something to observe. Once again Rupert & Tarquin et al haven't got a clue, Quell Surprise!:pDT_Xtremez_25:

Sorry but another quick rant -

Sorry but another quick rant -

If these morons want to try and suppress my right to free speech then they can shut down E-Goat, Rum Ration and ARRSE however, I will always find another way. As my logon suggests I'm a civvy and a retired one at that so I owe allegiance only to those whom I trust.

If therefore the Civil Service powder puffs want to shut my mouth they are welcome to try however to those shee-hites I say this:

I've been threatened by more dangerous things than you. P**s off.

You may stupidly suppress the views of service personnel but I am not subject to QRs or other military law. Now shove it in a sunless place.

You would be surprised what weapons and methods my service oppos have taught me to use, the Imperial Digit included. Get an effing brain pal.

You and divers politicians have turned this country into a spongers paradise but there is still the idea of free speech. Get the drift tosspots?

Now firk off because I help to pay your wages and I will fairly criticise the UK Government / Establishment whenever I want.

Never learn

Never learn

Why do they never learn.
"all public speaking, writing or other communications(I take that is to cover all mediums?), including via the internet and other sharing technologies, on issues arising from an individual's official business or experience, whether on-duty, off-duty or in spare time".FROM THE DIN

WTF does that mean? Doesn't specify military experience?
If you take it literally you can not communicate by any communication..about issues from your experience in your spare time.

Now that sounds like gagging to me. Do I have to get permission for every CV to an agency/ job interview/ or family get together?
Surely such a powerful document must have been read by some lawyer somewhere, even the lowest bidder would find it laughable? and un enforcable.
I understand the selling your story part....
And as for anyone on facebook, forces reunited and those of you who list all your postings and go into specifics-more fool you and it is all your fault::p: !

And this is where a decent civvie lawyer would be able to wipe the floor with any military lawyer who ever tried to enforce this rule without serious grounds.

We all signed the official secrets act when we joined up. If any of us are found guilty of breaking the rules laid down in the Act then, IMHO, they deserve everything they get. We do not need any additional policy to enforce security as the Official Secrets Act is more than enough already. The only way they could legally stop us from using sites like these would be to change the Act. That would require Parliament to debate the case which would undoubtedly reveal contraventions of the Human Rights Act. It’s easier for the MOD to release a DIN and hope that nobody challenges the legalities.

When the boys in the big house start shouting that you are embarrassing them, you know you are getting the food to where it needs to go.

There is little difference between the top brass and politicians, they all have their own final destination, a cosy day at the office without anybody upsetting their gin and tonics at the golf club on Sunday.

Free speech is what this country is about, and if they cared one iota about the fellas and lasses in the war zones and those at home, then they would make them very happy bunnies by providing them with all the equipment and support that they want and need, not a half measure just to save a few bob but let the country think they are doing the right thing.

When the zobs wake up and smell the sh!t around them, then they will actually do something about it, because it means they have finally been sh!t on themselves.

Keep going folks, and if we fold, then we re-start.

i just think it's all complete and utter twaddle! I'd challenge them tomorrow if i had to!

These forums are US bringing the serving community together, surely they must realise that!

Just look at the Nick Lock appeal. One of our own who we fought for and who fought with us side by side. They want to put an end to that............ they can whistle!!!!!

You tubes

You tubes

Just read the 1 sqn video thread and checked out some of the other vids there.
What are they thinking?
This is what this DIN should be aimed at, and if it is I will support it.
Those who appear should know better. I am all for the keeping in touch with home bit, but its the wrong medium to use.

I am always careful what I write in a bluey and when on the phone but using U tube is stupid.
Some of the dedication videos are great but dont give too much away!

Especially touching Nutty Bird.

I don't see the problem with servicemen compiling a tribute to fallen comrades on the internet for all to see.

I just discovered this article by a Defence Internet reporter:

" Robin Riley heads the team responsible for the MOD's online news and imagery, corporate internal communication and Defence Focus.
Writing from the personal perspective of a civil servant involved in MOD communications, he said:

Although MOD obviously wouldn't agree with everything you can read on unofficial sites such as ARRSE, I don't see a problem as long as security isn't compromised, and it is clear that the views expressed are personal.

"It's dangerous to take anything at face value. But bulletin boards do allow COs to get a feel for what junior ranks think, as bad news is not filtered out by the chain of command. I think coming generations of Service and MOD civilian personnel might see the ability to express themsleves online as a right, not a privilege.

These new outlets cannot replace the official channels for communicating Government policy, and holding MOD and the Armed Forces to account - namely, Ministers and Parliament.

But I believe these new technologies present many more opportunities than they do risks when it comes to staying in touch with our own people. We will be looking at how MOD might engage with these channels, potentially including the bulletin boards, over the course of this year."
