What is it with trying to get a priority issues out of DSDAs (depots) recently. Stafford, or 16MU as it will always be called, is soon to close. It is understandable that Stafford has fewer and fewer employees as it's drawdown edges ever closes, but at least if the stock you want is still being held there you can usually get it when you need it.

It's a different matter if the stock you want is held at Donnington or Bicester. And don't think that being Aircraft State makes a blind bit of difference either, cos it doesn't to them who work there. I can count the number of times I've had a smooth priorty issue from Don or Bic on one hand in all the time that they have been involved with holding depot stock.

And as for transport arrangements between all the depots and especially 16MU where the freight is eventually loaded and shipped to MOBs: I bet the London underground rush hour time table is easier to understand than what wagon eventually ends up where!

Someone, somewhere has made a nice little earner setting up contracts for this and that. As usual. And it's ultimately the customer who suffers. Someone I spoke to today at Bicester said. "We are very busy here you know. We have a lot of people to support and that's all over the world as well. All you have to do is support your own little unit." WE'RE ALL BUSY, PAL!! And we're made even busier by having to follow up issues, making numerous unneccessary phone calls to muppets like you because freight is not received when it's needed. And just how much busier are you compared to when, at one point, Stafford was the sole depot storage facility??

Is this the future of 'tri-service' storage and distribution? Heaven help those of us who have to rely on these 'suppliers' to maintain a priority issue procedure

Rant over, spleen vented. To the floor please...

Barmy Army have always been the same. When working in Mt stores at the big cat base in Norfolk would place MISCRIT VOR demands and our friends in green would downgrade them. When I lost the plot after getting flak from all directions decided to pass up chain who fair play came on board informed ops people that the airfield would have to be closed due to Donnington not providing spares for the Pew, Pew, Barny, Magrew wagon.

Funny old thing spares received at the double

To be fair to the workers at Donnington etc, for DSDA to meet financial targets set when accepting the Storage Contract, they have had to chop manpower by 40%. So whereas 16MU was alway quite good and Donz poor in comparison, we have lost 16MU and Donz has been devastated by cuts.

Another point to note, the bods in the stores at Donz, in a lot of cases, work from 0700-1900 Mon-Thurs. 0800-1700 Fri and at least half a day each weekend just to get a wage to be able to live a normal life. If you need the hours to earn some decent money, it is not in your interest to work your balls off and get work up to date (i.e. if up to date there is no overtime).

Mind you, the idea of DSDA shutting Stafford and moving stock to Dulman in Germany for storage does defy logic ...

It gets worse!!!

It gets worse!!!

If you think Don & Bic are bad wait until you find that because your ac component is bigger than a shoe box and happens to be part of an ac not a shinny green tank DSDA put it in DETMOLD in Germany!!!!!!!
Any State Demand means nothing to them even if you ring up and confirm that a 40ft truck leaves daily for the UK it still takes days to arrive.

Even the RAF moved components out of 431MU when we left Germany but now the 'commercial mind' of DSDA put them all back. BIZARE!!!:pDT_Xtremez_42:

Yeah. I guess that would make interesting 'reading'. After all, they get up to 24 hours to deliver a State Demand to UK bases. How long will the contract makers give them to ship from Germany. Should be interesting for the future. :pDT_Xtremez_09:

Yes, yes yes the old days were better blah blah blah. We still had problems getting the kit we wanted and today we want the kit a week ago. If we are not careful we risk sounding just like the techies, who say the same about us.

Use the tools in place to highlight your concerns so that Don and Bic can "Change" to meet our requirements. How can we expect them, DSDA, to know how we work and what we need off them unless we are constructive. Don't forget 16MU is/was part of DSDA too. :pDT_Xtremez_18:
