A bit of a touchy subject, this one.
But i know what you mean. Surely the asian community in Britain hasn't overtaken the "natives" in the reproduction league tables? Never mind, though! We'll try harder next year!!!

Only 3% of the UK's population is Muslim. Even if every boy born to a Muslim family were named after the prophet, the name would still be massively outnumbered by names of jewish, christian or even chinese origin so I can't see what all the fuss is about. Unless of course we're suggesting that these statistics indicate that the UK is being taken over by terrorists in which case you need to stop reading the Daily Mail a bit.
Nobody worries that curry is Britains favourite dish or that Cities like Manchester and London have designated Chinese 'towns'. Why then worry about the popularity of a Muslim name? The media's enthusiasm to publish any story that could promote unease about or anger towards the British Muslim population is what is really worrying. Almost as worrying as the enthusiasm with which people allow themselves to only see oneside of the immigration debate. But before we all start buying into the idea that Muslim = Bad, I have four words: Lance Corporal Jabron Hashmi. No, not a 'Mohamed' but a muslim all the same.
