Ok, I know this may be slightly off topic but here goes,
next month We are moving married quaters as the garden we have at the moment is a danger to our 2 young kids. last week Our next door neighbours 9yo daughter tripped and fell down the slope in the garden and broke her cheek bone. We have complained to the DHE both through the help desk and in writing. The move has been put down as a discertionary transfer if that help clarify thing.

If the move is for medical/health & safety reasons then you are covered for moving at public expense. Get DE to write you a quick letter stating the reason for the move, and you're sorted.

Just 'cos no other shiney has posted on this thread yet: on the face of it you should be entitled to removals and disturbance allowance if you exchange. IIRC mono is promoted soon - is this part of the same deal? It may have an effect.

Please see post #16! I may not know a lot, but I am a Shiney!!

See now this is the big question!

I took me promotion and I was posted internally. Took it, and now only a month in (they gave me f*ck all time to sort a swap before I was due there)

So if the qualifications required is 2 years in post I'm f*cked, if it's 2 years on camp, I'm laughing (as having done 7yrs!!)

Mystery?

Mystery?

Apologies, HS, I was so dumbstruck with the fact of non-shineys giving good admin advice I overlooked your post.

We are all admin experts now !?! :pDT_Xtremez_31:

Bit of detective work...
If the cost of removals is that much of an issue (yet DA is not?) I reckon this must be a big move, I would say defo past the witham and way past the humber bridge and even at a guess over the border?

Well to be honest, wherever I was looking at going, the only thing I'd really like looking after is the fact my stuff ended up in the right place. It is to help you in the times of moving, but as long as the stuff is moved, thats the important (and quite expensive) thing.

I am fairly sure that you are covered by time in location, as others have said (but I'll do some digging tomorrow). It would have made things simpler if you had been able to tie in the exchange with your posting-on-promotion.

Monobrow,
When I got my exchange I had been in my post as Cpl for just over a year. However, I had been at Stafford for nearly 4 years. Like you, I panicked a bit ref Removals etc but a quick chat with allowances (pre JPA) soon put my mind at ease. It is the time in location rather then time in post. Hope this helps :pDT_Xtremez_30:

I think Stacker1195 is right...

I exchanged last April having been at Odius 3 years but in rank only 2 and I was able to claim DA and removals. My posting paperwork said all expences to be met by individual (ie ME) however PMA told me that was a standard statement on paperwork for Exchange Postings.

Good Luck Fella

Monobrow got told we have to pay. He has just been looking up an AP reference and that says we are not entitled to anything for an exchange. This is very confusing! Some have got help others havent.

I'm no shiney but it looks confusing, if we go for a "Mid-assignent move" by choice, we get nothing, but if I have a written order to move (which more than likely PMA would give me) then I'm entitled.

Confuddled :pDT_Xtremez_09:

It definately isn't a mid-tour move. That generally covers a quarter move without moving camp, such as putting in a request for a different quarter patch at the same Unit. Your move should be covered as you have completed more than 2 and a half years and your exchange posting will be considered an environmental posting. I'm unsure of the JSP you need to look in as I have been out of PSF/HR Admin since JPA came into effect. I tried looking at work today but couldn't gain access to anything on our system.

Before JPA I had completed 4 years when I exchanged and I received full removals and disturbance allowance.

Whoever is advising you needs to refer to the JSP correctly and show you. I know shineys aren't supposed to be helpful now JPA is in, but any clerk who is worth their salt would help. I can only hope you aren't being advised by somebody I taught!

Mono,

I had a good look at the regs today and you is bu99ered. Although JSP752 appears to leave the door open for you, it is firmly shut by AP3392 Vol 2 and QRs which clearly state that you have to have spent 2.5 years in post for the move to be at public expense.

It may not be the end of the matter. You may be able to negotiate with your drafter to annotate your assignment order with an entitlement to move at public expense. If you point out to him (gently!) that you have been at the same location for 7 years it could be possible for him to use some discretion.

ok... if you are oredered in writing... ie get an assignment order you are entitled to claim DA, exchange r not

however.... if you exchange iaw the qr which is something like 2492 or something (its on the form) you are not allowed to have your personal effects converyed at public expense if you accept an exchange posting with nother airman voluntarily.

So in short DA YES removal no
