How do you know? Did you ask them why they commited suicide?

RIP Bangers.
God rest his soul.

Very funny indeed but they have these things called board of inquiry which investigates why,and normally its other factors, being at Marham is hardly reason enough to kill yourself, things like bullying, money problems, marital problems do.

Well those are some of the things that marham causes in a marriage.......so yes Marham is a VERY good reason for suicide.... (have spent over 10 years at the sh1thole in my "career"....never again thank fook).

Crack on............:pDT_Xtremez_09:

Does Derek Accorah sit on the board of enquiry?
There's only one person who knows the true reasons why the deceased decided to take his or her own life, and that's the deceased.
Sadly the deceased is no longer able to attend a debriefing to ascertain their reasons because of the nature of their current condition.

Boards of enquiry, especially internally run ones tend toonly discover what they're instructed to discover.
If there's something rotten at the core of how a station is run, a board of enquiry is unlikely to report that in its findings as it's just not cricket to embarass the officer classes.

I can agree with you on that Tashy. Just over 5 years was enough for me then the B*****ds sent me back again after 6 years (it had gone even further downhill in thoese 6 years) managed to escape second time after 2 months but then they tried again thankfully I didn't go back. They will send me back there over my dead body!!!!

If you'd ever been posted to Marham, you'd understand! Spent 5 years there, hated every second (although loved my job on the squadron). I suspect the long term PVR problem has raised its head again. Its a camp with 4 front line squadrons, hence a lot of young guys. The local area is aweful. Nearest real Pubs are 18 miles away. Norwich, nearest city is over 35. The locals hate everyone, and you are young and cant drive, you spend lots on Taxi's, which leads to financial problems, also rife. Pitch in regular deployments, redundancies, and an overall lack of morale, and i think you'll find your answer. If i ever get posted there again, ill quit. Also, highest suicide rate in UK forces.

Jeez, where did you get that lil snippet from?

Then why the hell am I at Lossie with half a dozen engineers helping out Lossiemouths shortfalls then?

I suspect you work in FAM. The reason the Marham guys are up here is that Lossie have taken on work that was originally planned to be done at Marham. The powers that be then decided, as Marham couldnt cope, to send the work to Lossie. It was then agreed that both Lossie & Marham would share the manning workload for the extra work at Lossie for a temporary period. You got to understand that Marham no longer carries out P* serv as all GR4 P* serv is now carried out at Lossie and as yet FAM have still not recieved its full complement of manpower to carry out the extra taskings. Hope that answers your comment.

So why is there a P* team currently working on gr4's in cmu's hangar? For some reason there kit seems to keep turning up at my place of work.

They may well be working on a GR4, if they are carrying out a P* then you may well find that it's the last one they carry out.

I have posted my views on Marham elsewhere (I think, or don't, depends on your view point), but from this thread I see that it would appear that the same people are running the bays now that ran them between 95 & 99. The reason they could not cope was they kept trying to make a point that they were hard done by and had insufficient manpower, so actually did little work on components and amassed:
28 spoiler actuators, 18 Spoiler valve packages, 3 NLGs, 12 Anti G valves and lots of BASVs and PRVs to name but a few. Cottesomore cleared most of these and others where sent to other units, seems Lossiemouth has taken over since Cott went Harrier. And guess what happened to the brain boxes behind this scheme, yep they got promoted.

I realise that this will be deemed off topic for a Stackers thread, but the problem above did not help you guys, I had to say this as I posted on the Peanuts thread by mistake and got moved.

Its not that bad! The accom situation was critical, its not to bad now. No one is living in the 32 man hell hole anymore and there are no longer people in hotels. The SLAM blocks gave us 100 odd new bedspaces so, its not that bad. Every camp has its ups and downs, Marham might have more than some, but I can think of worse places!

And just for the record, I dont think that ( in my lots of years at Marham), anyone has commited suicide because they are actually at Marham, I think theres a lot more going on than that!

I think they have asked for unit assistance as there is an incredible amount of supplrs OOA, I know on my little point most of the OOA are either fireman or stackers
Where exactly would you put as worse than Marham..............................

1. Go on then, name them.
2. How do know then, Doris Stokes?
3. This obviously doesn't include the high number of Sqn personnel away on constant detachments.
As for 'the accom situation was critical', FFS we are in the 21st Century, 6 man room transit for months, even prisoners don't have to put up with that!!:raf:

Coulnt have put it better myself. Fecking rapists, murderers and asylum seekers get better accomodation than this!! Is no one in the Ivory Towers looking at this situation?? PVR rate through the roof and the lack of people signing on again. 6 man rooms are fine on det but not for your permanent home. At the end of the day if a singlie lives in the block then that is his home. Would the to$$ers in charge put up with sharing with 5 others? I doubt it!!

I ♥ Marham

I ♥ Marham

This is not very constructive but Marham is the biggest sh1t hole i have ever lived at. Even the last pub in the village shut just before we got there.
I guess it may have got a bit better now though but its always had a bad rep.
I so enjoyed everything that was wrong in the techie world being the fault of the storeman and Lits....oh how we laughed the hours away. How i used to chuckle at being QOR'D for the issueing unit not taking Lits action before they sent the item. Happy days.

The last thing to happen at Marham would be anything 'constructive' as in building! I don't know how many countless millions have been spent in the great 'All our eggs in one basket' idolatry of BAe but surely a slight thought of 'where are we going to accommodate the extra workforce' should have been on the agenda. Or, maybe, the tw@ts who signed up to this folly should have spent the money more wisely and booked themselves into the local hospital for a no-ectomy!!!:pDT_Xtremez_32:

Probably some AVM with a land interest in the Marham area.........which at present is being sold off at a VERY NICE PROFIT to some building contactors....

Just a thought........

For once TM, I have to agree with you that there may be something in that. Look out for the next 'Land for Honours' investigation!:pDT_Xtremez_09:

Didnt the MoD have to buy some land back at double the price they sold it? I think it was for the new families centre (if that ever got built). Could have been a rumour but it sounds like the kind of deal our masters would have something to do with.
