Calling RAF Lincoln. a few quiet fellow armourers and I are looking for a boozer to meet at one saturday afternoon/evening which is easy to find for those of us travelling in to the area from outside.

All we ask is it is easy to find, has a quiet room where we can sit and drink lemonade or beer if so inclined and discuss our plans to take over the world or at least organise the next National armourers social gathering.

Oh yes need answers quick team!!:pDT_Xtremez_14:

You need the one just as you come over Pelham Bridge Gem, as you head out towards Branston - its like a Vaudeville Review bar... only by drags!!!
Great night out for a laugh!!!!

The Strugglers & The Victoria in the Bailgate.

Good range of real ales in both, only just around the corner from one another.

Sightings of an unsteady collie in the vicinity at closing time are unconfirmed.

Failing that, just go to the Witherspoons in Silver Street, there is a kebab shop & taxi rank just around the corner.

Sightings of an unsteady collie . . . etc etc

The quieter pubs seem to be up that steep hill ie real ale and chunky jumpers...Thats my expert opinion after trailing around in the rain last Friday anyway...

Already been said that anywhere in the Bailgate area should suit. Try the Magna Carta - it's in the Courtyard that separates the front entrance of the Cathedral from the castle - on the corner where it drops down to steep hill. Very pleasant pub - lively at times but never gets too roudy.

Lion and Snake, Duke William and Prince of Wales are good too.

Forgive the necro post. As a frequent visitor to Lincoln, the one thing I have noticed is the diminishing numbers of watering holes, since the days of my misspent youth. Gone, but not forgotten,The Queens Hotel, The Millers Arms, The Chaplin Arms, The Wildlife, Robeys Club, Rustons Club, The Lion, and many more. On a more upbeat note, nice to see that The Clangers in Waddo village was still hanging in there on my last visit.

Quick question to those in the know...
Is 'The Jolly Brewer' on Broadgate still open?
I used to spend half my life in there in the late 80s, supposedly studying for HNC in Monks Road.
Used to be a decent pint.

The jolly Brewer is a good night for bands etc, good atmosphere and a real mixture of clientèle .
the widows cullens well is in the uphill area and very cheap (£2.30 for a decent lager) no music just plain old chatting and some interesting characters !
