It's been quiet all week really.

Lots of goaters on leave maybe?

Or maybe the watered down pish and drivel which has been posted all week on various threads might be discouraging regular serious and proper comedy goaters. I know I've looked on the goat several times this week, but to be honest I couldn't be ars*d to reply to a lot of the flirting, vacuous and just plain old boring sh*te that clearly passes for amusing and interesting chat for a couple of posters. I know it's been said before, but it's been like a third rate edition of Jackie in here this week.

Come on guys, let's improve things for the weekend and add some much needed quality to the goat which has been lacking in the last few days.

(OS checks clock, takes off work head, dons beer hat, and goes home).

Apologies for being mundane & boring in my posts! I like to think people have an intellectual capacity on here too - and can think outside the box. If this is purely to talk shop 24/7, then why is it advertised as a community for families too, and not purely serving members?

Just realized what the A nerd thing is.

As far as being like "Jackie" - well this place is for fun, entertainment of all levels and all topics of depravity and the like. It is also for things of a serious nature. If this Goat becomes all shop talk about the RAF then that's a sad way to go. I know from experience what the RAF throws at their people so I can understand every angle Goaters post about.

There is a place for EVERYONE here. Infact you should have a thread for gayers, dykes, transexuals, alchoholics, religious buffs, the Buffs and any other faction that wishes to join in. This is a free West and we fight to keep the freedom of speech. Some people may not agree with me but never the less, that's the West we live in.

Is the Goat not a place where you can unload and freely talk about anything under the sun ?

I've never done a chat room thing before but surely just making a new section of the Goat separate NON AIRFORCE STUFF then that would have its own topics and threads. The people that posted there would be separated from the others that want intulekshul stuff, military stuff and serious stuff. Keep all the tangent material there. We can then witter on about sex, vibrators, men,girls, gayers, trannies infact anything. People can choose to join in or not. A sort of sub Goat. Just like jet blast on pprune.

I tell you what - why dont i just **** off and leave you to it? Obviously being light hearted and trying to avoid total shop talk and include everyone - as there are a lot of people on here NOT serving members,-is not wanted and therefore, although a number of people have thanked me for "fun" threads to pass the time, I wont bother in future!
I agree that there should be an "everyday" type of forum for light hearted subjects - I have no problem with that and, had there been one, I wouldnt be clogging up the general one with my innane drivel would I?
I am so sorry , but I didnt see a rule that stated everything had to be RAF related! Im deeply offended, and annoyed that people who criticise are happy to post on the drivel that I have posted!
I dont normally lose my rag - far from it, but as far as I can see, its a "members only" club, and, as only being a good little wifey, I dont fit in!!!!!!!

Please don't take personally the comments I made this afternoon, and let me make something clear:

I did NOT, at any point, suggest that this should be a site to discuss work 24/7.
Look at 70% of my posts. Mainly comedic in intent, meant to lightly amuse, entertain and cajole others into light hearted time passing type activities. I discuss things of a serious nature rarely.
Discussions of a "feminine" nature are as welcome as any others in my book, just as long as they have a point.

Let me give you an example of what annoys me, and others:

MEMBER 1: I've got a dildo!

MEMBER 2: You saucy minx!

MEMBER 3: You've never!

MEMBER 1: I have!

MEMBER 2: Oh you saucy minx!

See my point? These replies take up literally pages and pages of the site, and amuse or interest no-one other than the persons making them. That's why I agree a chatroom at limited times is a damn fine idea. One and 2 word answers are just not worth other people's time to read.

If you took my comments to be aimed at you, they weren't intended to be, so I'm sorry.

They're aimed at these two or three word conversations between two or three people, and that is what MSN is for.

Surely there's room on this site for all sorts of discussion.
Sure, some of it can be inane drivel but the title will usually give you a clue.
Just because you aren't interested in a subject shouldn't mean you can just say
"this is mindless drivel and it's this kind of rubbish that puts others off from posting."
Personally I enjoy reading 'most' of the stuff that's on here, I tend to ignore the trolls, and vacuous sh1te wherever possible.

Just read what you posted, In that case I agree with you. That sort of stuff is sh1te, but leave the trekkies/ trekkers alone, they're interest is just as valid as the numerous footie based posts that pop up every now and then.

I accept that totally - and, in posting, although many people may not get my humour sometimes, the threads I have started have been designed to get people thinking in a light hearted way - the job is $hite enough now - I know - I have to listen to the moaning about it often enough!

I dont post on areas that dont concern me, as I have no right to do so. I look at whats titled, and make my choice as to where to post then. If I have an opinion I try to voice it eloquently and with some degree of sarcasm - as is the norm.
I do bow my head in shame at being guilty to a couple of one liners, but normally I have far more to say than that.... yeah I know, Im a woman....!! (I jest!... not that Im a woman but that.... well you know what I mean!)

I apologise for my outburst, as Im having a cr@p night! But lets just say, I have my own opinions, and happilly air them, please or offend, after all, it is still a free world - just!!

As far as a chat room goes - Im in two minds really. It would be good to have a bit of real time banter going on - there is only so much you can say on a PM!! But I see the problem with IGS and think an allocated timeslot would be the best approach - no doubt an evening one, when idiots like myself appear just for the laughs!

I would also happilly offer my services to help moderate it as I have done in several MSN groups in the past - one a big forces one of the past..... enough said!
Just an offer though, but if its needed to be kept "in house" so to speak, then I appreciate that.

I share wobbly's concerns about chatrooms. I have tried them a few times but no matter what they seem always to be just one liners and for one finger typists like me they move too fast and always seem to degenerate into confusion.

the beauty of Forum based comms is you get the choice of what to read. If a thread is in your opinion crap you don't have to read it.

a lot of the stuff I enjoy reading but because I have no first hand knowledge of cannot contribute to, if this was all in chatrooms and one liners i wouldn't get to understand what was really ticking people off and what is fun about the modern RAF and never be able to stick my oar in.

Also with one line responses it is easier to offend people accidently, ask Oh Sir about that, I gave a one line snappy answer as a joke which didn't come across at all that way and we needed a few PMs to kiss and make up again. there would I fear be much more of that if we were using chatrooms.

worst of all moderators would have to spend time moderating instead of enjoying the goat and where is the fun in that?
